A 21 year old woman was leaving first Colony Mall near the Forever 21 exit when she was accosted and her phone was stolen.

On Saturday evening, March 15, about 8:30 pm, a young woman was walking from the north entrance/exit of First Colony Mall, headed to the parking lot.

As she walked she was texting on her phone when she was approached by a light-skinned black man who tried to grab her phone, said Sugar Land police spokesman Doug Adolph.

She held onto the phone and tried to pull away, but the man threw her to the ground, forced the phone from her hands and ran toward Methodist Hospital, said Adolph.

She suffered minor cuts and scratches in the melee. She gave chase for a short distance and then flagged down a motorist who helped her search the area but they were unsuccessful. The crook got away.

The suspect was described as a 17-19 years old; wearing afro-styled hair. He was wearing a red and white motorcycle jacket, black jeans and white shoes. He was with another black man wearing a blue hoodie and blue jeans.

Anyone with information should call the Sugar Land Police Department at (281) 275-2540 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at (281) 342-TIPS (8477).
