Shared Dreams is a Fort Bend ISD program that provides adequate clothing and toiletries to FBISD students. Last year, Shared Dreams assisted over 3,000 FBISD students.

This year, Shared Dreams lost the vendor who donated 1,000 pairs of new shoes to the program, the director of Shared Dreams found a new way to raise funds for new shoes- recycling old shoes. A recycler will give Shared Dreams 40¢/lb. for any type of old footwear. So, many of the schools in FBISD are having Ugly Shoe Drive to support Shared Dreams.

One such school is Austin High School.  The week of March 17, the AHS VIPS placed collection boxes around the school and collected ugly shoes.  The AHS Community donated over 400 pairs of shoes, some of them being the steel pointed shoes – which are really heavy.

This wonderful project can help make a difference in so many students’ lives and in the environment.  Who knows maybe some of these shoes will show up in athletic surfaces at some of the FBISD schools.  If you have shoes that you would like to donate, contact FBISD Shared Dreams – 281-634-2916.
