Public hearing on Texas economic development and manufacturing set for May 1

The Economic & Small Business Development committee of the Texas House of Representatives will hold a public hearing at Houston Community College Central from 10 a.m. to noon, Thursday, May 1.

The committee is meeting to receive testimony regarding economic development, manufacturing and workforce development in the Houston area.

The location for the public hearing is the Learning Hub Science Building, Room 100, Central Campus, Houston Community College, 1300 Holman Street, Houston, TX 77004. This is HCC’s college in the Midtown area of Houston.

Rep. John Davis chairs the committee. Other committee members are: Rep. Hubert Vo (Vice Chair), Rep. Cecil Bell, Rep. Yvonne Davis, Rep. Jason Isaac, Rep. Jim Murphy, Rep. Mary Ann Perez (both Murphy and Perez are former members of the HCC Board of Trustees), Rep. Eddie Rodriquez and Rep. Paul Workman.

Six people have been called to testify before the committee. The public is invited to hear their comments and share their thoughts with committee members.
