At the Insperity Club upstairs at Constellation Stadium, the highly anticipated upcoming baseball season took center stage with a celebration April 3, compliments of Patout & Shaw, PLLC and the Sugar Land Skeeters.  Organizers of the network nites event, the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce earlier held a candidates forum at City Centre at Quail Valley sponsored by the Arc of Fort Bend with an impressive line up of civic leaders making a bid for local city and school board public offices for an election on May 10.

With a growing fan base, including those at the network nites gathering, the popular Skeeters team will start spring training next week as it gets ready for the 2014 season’s Opening Day, Thurs., April 24, against the Lancaster Barnstormers. The team is led by Skeeters Manager Gary Gaetti with David McDaniel as Coach and Jeff Scott as the returning Pitching Coach. But before the games start, there will be a Fan Fest hosted by the Skeeters at Constellation Field, Sat., April 19, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.  The free event will debut new and improved areas, where kids will get to play in an inflatable zone featuring an obstacle course, joust, rope ladder and speed of pitch games. There will also be an Easter egg hunt for children and of course, Swatson is expected to be there.

Look forward to a lot more activity and excitement soon. The Skeeters’ schedule shows 140 games, 70 of them at home. Also coming up is the Sugar Land Wine and Food Affair, April 23 -28th.  Check the respective websites for more information, SugarLandSkeeters.com and fortbendchamber.com.
