Damon Fire Chief dies battling house fire

Sadness looms over Damon, Texas as they mourn the loss of their longtime volunteer fire chief. Damon is a rural community that sits at the border of far south Fort Bend County and northwest Brazoria County; where fire personnel were fighting the structure fire at which Ferguson collapsed.

Details are still unfolding in the death of Damon Fire Chief Hugh “Bubba” Ferguson, 52. According to authorities, Ferguson collapsed while fighting a north Brazoria County house fire late Monday night. Firefighters on the scene immediately began CPR and the Chief was transported by air ambulance to Houston where he died.

Chief Ferguson was a part of the Damon Volunteer Fire Department for some 20+ years. He leaves behind a wife and two children whom are also firefighters.
