Artist demonstration of landscape painting offered at University Branch Library
Fort Bend County Libraries, in conjunction with Sugar Land Area Artists, will present a special artist demonstration of “Painting Pastel Landscapes” at the University Branch Library on Saturday, May 17, beginning at 10:00 am, with a meeting followed by the demonstration, in the Small Meeting Room of the library, located at 14010 University Blvd in Sugar Land, on the UH campus. The guest artist is Linda Dellandre.
An award-winning artist, Dellandre primarily paints pastel landscapes. She has taught pastel painting and drawing for the last 10 years, in private classes and for art associations and schools.
“The landscape is my primary form of expression, whether oil or pastel, plein air or studio,” says Dellandre. “I am awed by the beauty of this land, and I’d like to communicate to the viewer a sense of place, a certain light of day, or a glimpse out the car window.”
Dellandre has won numerous awards and honors as an artist. Most recently, she was the winner of the Bronze Award at the International Association of Pastel Societies 2nd Master Circle Juried Exhibition and was the recipient of the Master Circle Gold Medallion at the IAPS Convention in Albuquerque in 2013.
In 2013, Dellandre was Vice President of the newly reorganized Pastel Society of Southeast Texas. She is also a member of the Outdoor Painters Society in Texas, the International Artists Pastel Society, and was a founding member of the Arizona Plein Air Painters.
The program is free and open to the public. For more information, call the branch library at 281-633-5100, or the library’s Public Information Office at 281-341-2677.
