Children’s program schedule abbreviated in May at library
In preparation for the Summer Reading Club, which begins June 2, Fort Bend County Libraries’ University Branch Library will have an abbreviated schedule of children’s programs in May. The summer schedule of activities will begin during the second week in June. These programs are free and open to the public.
The May schedule is as follows:
Mother Goose Time, which normally takes place every Wednesday at 10:30 am, provides caregiver/infant multisensory circle-time activities — including simple sign language, folksongs and lullabies, and finger plays — that are especially designed to stimulate babies’ social, emotional, and physical development through rhythm and music. Mother Goose Time is intended for infants from age 1 month to 12 months. Mother Goose Time will take place on May 7 ONLY this month.
Toddler Time, which normally meets every Tuesday at 10:30 am, offers caregiver/child activities, stories and songs for older babies, from 12 to 36 months of age. Toddler Time will take place on May 6 ONLY this month.
Story Time, which normally meets every Monday at 1:30 pm and every Thursday at 10:30 am, provides stories, movies, and age-appropriate craft activities for pre-school children, 3 to 6 years of age. Story Time will take place on May 1, 5, and 8 ONLY this month.
Pajama Night Story Time — which normally takes place every Tuesday at 7:00 pm — gives families an evening option for some activities presented during the day time. Pajama Night Story Time will take place on May 6 ONLY this month.
Family Story Time normally takes place every Saturday at 10:30 am. Families with children of all ages are invited to come and enjoy stories, movies, and crafts together. Family Story Time will take place on May 3 ONLY this month.
Kinder Korner — a time for kindergartners to enjoy stories, movies, crafts and other activities – normally takes place on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday, beginning at 4:00 pm. Kinder Korner will take place on May 7 ONLY this month. The program will resume in September.
The After-School Breaks — crafts, movies, stories, and more for school-aged children in grades 1 through 5 – normally take place on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, beginning at 4:00 pm. The After-School Break will not take place in May. The program will begin its special summer schedule in June as weekly School-Age Programs.
The Tween Café, designed for youth in grades 4 and 5, normally takes place on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month, beginning at 4:00 pm. The Tween Café will meet on May 1 ONLY this month for “Win It in a Minute.”
The Middle School Programs, which are designed for youth in grades 6 and up, normally take place on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month, beginning at 5:00 pm. The program will not take place in May.
