School board candidate accused of stealing campaign signs

By Betsy Dolan

electionFort Bend ISD school board member and Position 4 candidate, Bruce Albright, has been accused of stealing another candidate’s campaign signs.

A surveillance camera, set up by Kris Allfrey, a Position 5 candidate, allegedly captured Albright taking one of Allfrey’s signs from the Helfman Ford dealership in Meadows Place.

Police did question Albright about the incident.

“I have never stolen anyone’s campaign signs. I did remove one of Kris Allfrey’s signs from the private property of Helfman Ford, which I am an agent for the owner,” Albright wrote in a Facebook post.

Allfrey told local media that he set up the surveillance camera after three of his signs had been stolen from the dealership. Allfrey had permission to put his campaign signs on the property.

The person stealing the campaign signs faces a misdemeanor theft charge, which could mean a fine of up to $2,000 and jail time.
