Annual Mental Health America of Fort Bend event supports care, hope & help
The 9th Annual Beacon of Hope Banquet at the Sugar Creek Country Club in Sugar Land on May 9th featured Jim McIngvale as the keynote speaker with a strong message about ending stigmas and expected outcomes of mental illness. Emcees James Ives and Jake Messinger together with Teresa Cox Reading served as the vocal glue relating to the purpose of the event and the work of the organization. Former Executive Director Gay Williams, now deceased and a champion of mental health programs, has left a legacy in Fort Bend. A 2014 Gay Williams Beacon of Hope Service Award was presented to Judge Jim Richard and accepted by his wife, Laura. Both active community supporters for over 20 years in Fort Bend were recognized for their outstanding work.
Fort Bend County Commissioner James Patterson was on top of his game…again, as the live auctioneer. And if you haven’t seen the K-9 demonstration of the Rosenberg Police Department, keep an eye out for it. The dogs and their handlers were stellar as they entertained those attending yet another successful Fort Bend event.
