Senior Veterans honored on May 23

Friday, May 23, the Houston Museum of Natural Science hosted an event honoring senior Veterans. The program included a premier screening of the Wortham Theatre movie D-DAY, Normandy 3D, a welcome keynote by Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and a breakfast buffet for all attending.

Local community organizers, Diana Miller for Sugar Land and Sy Retsky for Missouri City arranged for two busloads of senior veterans and their guests to attend the free event.

District 26 State Rep. Rick Miller sponsored one of the chartered buses which provided our local veterans free transportation.

The veterans were so moved by the event and the movie that one return trip busload of veterans broke out into a spontaneous rendition of “God Bless America” and “My Country Tis of Thee.”

A trip, by senior Veterans, to the Houston Museum of Natural Science in observance of Memorial Day, was well attended and most enjoyable.
