Congratulations to MatchBook! 2014 Reading Competition winners

Fort Bend ISD congratulates the elementary and middle school teams that were named winners of the District’s first MatchBook! 2014 reading competition. The competition, sponsored by FBISD’s Library Media Services Department, is based on the reading incentive program that promotes a culture of reading among students on campus and encourages students to be lifelong readers.

The contest welcomed nine elementary teams in a competition held in April and nine middle school teams in a competition in May. Prior to the competition, students were required to read books from a pre-selected list. During the competition, they were asked to identify the book title that matched a quote read by the contest official.

Schools with the winning MatchBook! 2014 teams are:

Middle Schools

• Baines – 1st place
• First Colony – 2nd place
• Dulles – 3rd place (after winning a tie-breaker with Bowie)

Elementary Schools

• Cornerstone – 1st place
• Lakeview – 2nd place
• Colony Meadows – 3rd place

Library Media Services thanks student teams from the following schools for also competing in the contest: Bowie, Crockett, Fort Settlement, Lake Olympia, Sartartia and Sugar Land Middle Schools; and Burton, Glover, Highlands, Oyster Creek, Quail Valley and Schiff Elementary Schools.

MatchBook! 2015 will be held in the Spring. Students interested in competing may obtain more information and view the booklist (available in early June) by visiting Next year’s booklist, which makes for super summer reading, will include contemporary award-winning books representing various genres, including classic literature.
