Up for grabs – There is more gyrating going on than in an Elvis movie! Just slight weeks ago Fort Bend County lost a long time public servant; Justice of the Peace Jim Richard. He was laid to rest and shortly thereafter his wife Laura Richard was sworn in as his replacement. Well, here’s the twist! You see, although Ms. Richard is serving in Jim’s place until someone is officially elected, she will not appear on the November 2016 ballot for that race, the Republican precinct chairs for that particular precinct (4) will appoint someone to replace Jim on the November ballot. SO…those gyrating for the Republican slot on the November 2016 ballot will be decided by the 28 Precinct 4 Republican chairs on May 16th Republican party meeting. So now that is as clear as mud in your eye, here is an idea on who might, just might be interested…a 30+ Sugar Land police officer , a former replacement judge that served as a fill in County Court at Law Judge, a female Sugar Land attorney, and a Montgomery County prosecutor and sometimes Fort Bend DWI Guru. While those are not necessarily all the candidates, they are the ones at the head of the pack. Godspeed Judge Jim, but we need ya here!
The trials and tribulations over at MCPD … Well, they say no one has left or been dismissed for false reports. That is the official word; however, something is not passing the scratch and sniff test. We are receiving allegations of false police reports, over and over. Unfortunately, our inquiries either go unanswered or the poor low-man-on-the-totem-pole gets stuck with returning our phone calls. So, we just keep digging. Finally when the exact right question is asked, well, then there is an investigation, and they can’t comment. We’ll wait. And to give credit where credit is due, Assistant Police Chief Jimmerson did call, it was right at deadline but he did call. He said some of the information we had was bad and some remains under investigation. Ya know, asking a law enforcement official about things they don’t want to discuss is a lot like asking a teenager where ya go’n, as they are hanging halfway out of a window… the best part is when they respond with nowhere, why? What makes you think I am leaving…I always hang halfway out my bedroom window…its okay with my parents….. Umm, hum, we’ll see.
I am almost afraid to say this out loud but could it be that FCCA is playing pretty with residents? Keep us posted.
Last week we mentioned Rosenberg police department and told them to hang on…well THAT investigation they are hanging on for …is still ongoing.
And on a final note, District Attorney John Healey says he did in fact investigate the allegations made about a Stafford officer; he and his investigators determined there was no merit to the allegations. He said he felt like the allegations could have been made out of jealousy.
