Missouri City Councilman Robin Elackatt was elected Mayor Pro Tem June 16. The vote to approve his nomination earlier in the month was found to be invalid when newly elected Councilman Chris Preston had not been sworn in by a notary public. A councilman needs a majority vote to be elected Mayor Pro Tem and since Preston’s vote was invalid, Elackatt only had three votes in his favor.
