Special Crime Alert: Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers
By LeaAnne Klentzman
In a recent case of robbery turned theft in action, a man can be watched as he uses a robbery victim’s credit to get cash from a nearby ATM. This suspect and his associates have struck all across northeast Fort Bend County, southwest Harris County and southwest Houston. These cases have garnered the direct attention of a collection of law enforcement agencies.
As Sheriff’s spokesman Bob Haenel explains it, “Suspects in the cases usually have been targeting Asian females returning from the Bellaire Boulevard area in most cases.” The suspects trail their target home and make a surprise attack. As the women pull into their driveway the crook dashes from his vehicle, smashes the victim’s car window, grabs her purse and then he bolts back to his getaway car. With purse in hand the suspect and his getaway driver flee the area and begin to try and use the plastic in the purloined handbag.
Law enforcement officials have determined that there are three suspects. They are a described as young black males between the ages of 16 and 20, two around 6’ tall. No description was available for the third suspect. The suspect vehicles have ranged from a black car, to a white car and a tan van. They have also reportedly used a blue Dodge, Nissan Rouge, and an older model Camry in their criminal enterprise.
Anyone with information which leads to the apprehension and prosecution of these suspects could earn a reward of up to $5,000. Call Crime Stoppers at (281) 342-TIPS (8477)
