Free Summer Movie Series @ George Memorial Library

Fort Bend County Libraries will feature a free Summer Movie Series at George Memorial Library, 1001 Golfview in Richmond, in July. A variety of movie genres, from animated family films to science-fiction thrillers, will be shown.

On Monday, July 14, library patrons will be treated to a recently-released animated adventure film, set in a world made up of plastic, interchangeable toy blocks. Thought to be the “most extraordinary person,” Emmet is an ordinary construction worker who is recruited to join a quest to stop the evil tyrant, Lord Business, and save the universe. This movie is rated PG. Showtime is 6:00 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library.

The special feature on Monday, July 28, is based on Hans Christian Andersen’s beloved fairy tale, The Snow Queen. This award-winning animated adventure film takes place in the kingdom of Arendelle, which has been cast into eternal winter by the powerful Snow Queen, Elsa. The queen’s sprightly sister, Anna, teams up with a rough-hewn mountaineer named Kristoff and his trusty reindeer, Sven, on an epic journey to break the icy spell. Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls, and a hilarious snowman named Olaf, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom. This film is rated PG. Showtime is 6:00 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library.

The movies are free and open to the public. The libraries’ licensing agreement for public showing of films prohibits them from releasing the name of the movie outside of the library. For more information about the featured movies, call the library at 281-342-4455 or the library’s Public Information Office at 281-341-2677.
