Missouri City Green electronics recycling event successful
The need to properly recycle unwanted and outdated electronics was apparent as more than 400 residents from across Fort Bend and surrounding counties took advantage of Missouri City Green’s free electronics recycling event held on June 14 at the Public Safety Headquarters on Cartwright Road. A significant quantity of electronics were kept out of landfills as event vendor, Texas Green Giant of Stafford, filled their 27’ moving truck multiple times with items ranging from cell phones to big screen televisions.
Missouri City Parks and Recreation Department provided support for the event as well as 32 volunteers from Missouri City Green, Missouri City Core (City of Missouri City staff) and Fort Bend County Juvenile Probation Department to quickly and efficiently unload electronics from vehicles. This collaboration allowed residents to safely dispose of their unwanted and outdated electronics and avoid a charge at area recycling centers.
Missouri City Green is the city’s Keep Texas Beautiful affiliate and a non-profit organization that seeks to foster and encourage local residents to take responsibility in the community through recycling, planting native trees and plants and other earth-friendly activities.
