Long time sheriff’s deputy honored for his commitment to the citizens of Fort Bend County as a polygraph examiner.

Lieutenant James Fontenot was recipient of 2014 Tim Kennedy Examiner of the Year Award; an award given to the top polygraph examiners in the state by the Texas Association of Law Enforcement Polygraph Investigators.

Lieutenant Fontenot began his public service career in the US Army and Naval Reserve.  After 22 years he retired with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer.  Mr. Fontenot, as he is known by his peers, joined the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office in 1992.

He began as a civilian detention officer while he was attending a law enforcement academy.

Mr. Fontenot also served in the Patrol Division and Detective Divisions prior to moving to the Internal Affairs Division in 2006 where he became a polygraph examiner.
