Mission Glen Elementary School (MGE) third-grader, Eric Martinez, received a 2014 Academy Star Student award as a “runner up” in the awards program sponsored by EPS Literacy and Intervention’s Academy of Math.

The award honors students who have overcome significant challenges to build proficiency in math, as well as teachers who go above and beyond on a daily basis to provide their students with every opportunity to improve their skills.

MGE Special Education teacher, Chastity Gonzalez, has worked closely with Martinez challenging him daily in math through the online EPS Math Academy, and the hard work has paid off. EPS representatives Peter Cleary and Lynne Cook presented Martinez with the award on May 22.
