The Fort Bend Fork 07/02/14
Tierra del Fuego
2110 Town Square Place
Sugar Land, TX 77479
This is a new restaurant in Sugar Land Town Square that is well worth trying. It serves authentic Argentinian food and offers live dancing, music, and artists on Friday and Saturday nights.
The restaurant is well appointed in true Argentinian style and architecture. It is a large place with an inviting private party room and a more casual Fueguito (small café) next door. Artists come periodically to render their artwork as onlookers watch. Some of their artwork is displayed throughout the restaurant. Monday nights are fun nights as Tango lessons are offered for a fee, then the class-goers sip wine, practice their dance moves among the tables and mingle as the instructor guides them. Happy hour is offered Mon. – Fri.
For an appetizer, the Empanadas Argentinas were sampled including three empanadas, one beef & sausage, one chicken, and one cheese & onions. They were excellent. Entrees sampled were the Gnocchi a la Recoleta (potato pasta with parmesan spinach cream sauce) which was rich, filling and tasty with just the right amount of seasonings, and the Bife de Fuego (Argentine cut of beef seared over a charcoal & wood Argentine grill cooked in a delicious chimichurri sauce and a side of Pure de la Nona (sweet potato, pumpkin, and potato puree). The beef was cooked to perfection and the sauce was a perfect accompaniment to create a melt-in-your-mouth experience. The potatoes were good as well.
The service was excellent and entertaining as they explained about the restaurant and all it has to offer. The prices were reasonable for the area as well.
I will definitely come back to this restaurant and look forward to coming often to get the full experience!
