First Colony Branch Library to celebrate 75th Anniversary of Batman

In celebration of the 75th anniversary of DC Comics’ Batman, Fort Bend County Libraries will have a special “Batman Day Celebration” for families on Wednesday, July 23, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm, in the Meeting Room at the First Colony Branch Library, 2121 Austin Parkway in Sugar Land.

An event for Batman fans of all ages, the celebration will feature a special showing of a Batman movie and fun craft activities for the younger fans of the famous Caped Crusader. Children can also have their faces painted like a member of the Justice League, and then take a picture in the library’s Super Hero photo scape.

Batman first emerged from the shadows to become the world’s most popular Super Hero in the May 30, 1939, issue of Detective Comics #27. Over the years, he battled some of fiction’s greatest villains using his intellect, cunning, and an arsenal of gadgets to further his quest for justice.

The single most successful Super Hero film franchise in history, Batman inspired more theatrical movies than any other comic-book character.

The event is free and open to the public. Snacks will be provided. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, call the branch library at 281-238-2800 or the library’s Public Information Office at 281-633-4734.
