First Colony Branch Library to host puppet show for children
First Colony Branch Library will host a special children’s puppet performance, “Science Black-Light Puppet Show,” on Saturday, July 19, beginning at 1:30 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 2121 Austin Parkway in Sugar Land.
Master puppeteer Jean Kuecher, producer of Marionette Playhouse, will use glowing fluorescent puppets to illustrate a variety of science topics, such as the life cycles of insects and plants, the water cycle and energy cycle, the food chain, planets and the solar system, dinosaurs, and global warming. Children of all ages will watch as Fran the puppet tries to decide on a science project from so many great subjects!
The hand-crafted puppets are created by Kuecher. A member of the Puppeteers of America and the Greater Houston Puppetry Guild, Kuecher holds a masters degree in Education, Counseling and Guidance from the University of Houston, and has used her puppetry skills to enrich classroom education.
The performance is free and open to the public. For more information, call the branch library at 281-238-2800 or the library’s Public Information Office at 281-341-2677.
