Fort Bend Friends and Neighbors Club holds scholarship awards luncheon
FBFN Foundation, the charitable arm of Fort Bend Friends and Neighbors women’s social club, awarded $2,500 college scholarships to five Fort Bend County students at the Education: The Key to Success luncheon held at BraeBurn Country Club, Houston, Texas, on Thursday, May 15. Fort Bend Independent School District’s Superintendent, Dr. Charles Dupre, delivered the keynote speech and assisted in the scholarship awards presentation.
The FBFN Foundation’s Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to local students seeking to reach their higher educational goals at one of the Fort Bend County college campuses of Wharton County Junior College (including Fort Bend Technical Center), Houston Community College, and the University of Houston Sugar Land. Funds for the scholarships were raised by FBFN Foundation and its’ members through an annual silent auction, Fish City Grill’s 1st Tuesday Benefit, and monetary donations received from gracious individuals, civic groups, and corporate donors who share FBFN Foundation’s mission and look to support the primary resource for our future – our children.
Scholarships were presented by Dr. Charles Dupre and FBFN Foundation President, Nancy Frank, to Brenda Garcia, Willowridge High School, attending Houston Community College Stafford Campus; Laura Gutierrez, B F Terry High School, attending Wharton County Junior College Richmond Campus; Mercedes Hernandez, 2nd year recipient, attending Wharton County Junior College Sugar Land Campus; Stephanie Torres, B F Terry High School, attending Wharton County Junior College Richmond Campus; and Katelyn Zwahr, 2nd year recipient, attending Wharton County Junior College Richmond Campus.
