Free Safe Kids Awareness Day event July 12

Spirit of Texas Family Medicine clinic will host a Safe Kids Awareness Day event on Saturday, July 12, 9 a.m. to noon, 15200 Southwest Fwy, Medical Bldg. 1, Sugar Land. The purpose of the event is to provide children ages 3-12 and their families with an opportunity to learn about safety and prevention.

SOTFM has partnered with Hard Hats for Little Heads, Sugar Land police and fire departments to work towards the prevention of unintentional childhood injuries. Young lives are saved through an effort to increase community awareness through safety education, and the distribution of protective equipment.

The day will include bicycle safety inspections. Bicycle tires, frames, handlebars, chain guards, and reflectors are checked, and parents receive a check-list for each bike indicating if anything needs to be repaired. The first 100 children will get a free bike helmet courtesy of the Hard Hats for Little Heads program.

The event will also include car seat safety, fire and burn safety. We invite the community to bring their children to this event.  Bring car seats for safety inspection.

Be Wise, Immunize campaign’s will offer free vaccines are for uninsured and medicaid/chips patients through the vaccines for children program.  Hands-only CPR training will also be offered by certified trainers of the American Heart Association.

For more information about this event, please call Susan at 281-201-8737.
