Missouri City’s own Eclipse Soccer Club wins State Championship
Missouri City is proud to congratulate the Eclipse Soccer Club’s 01G Black team for winning the South Texas Youth Soccer Association State Championship during the Memorial Day weekend. The team, comprised of 12- to 13-year-old girls from the Missouri City, Sugar Land and Katy areas, will now compete in the U.S. Youth Soccer Southern Regional tournament later this month and are concurrently competing in a separate league.
Although the team finished near the bottom of their bracket after the fall season, the team fought back this spring, placing second out of the top 12 teams in their age group, who hailed from Houston and as far away as San Antonio and Austin. Over the Memorial Day weekend, the Eclipse team competed as one of the top four teams in the state, securing the State Championship in a 1-0 victory on the final day of competition over the first place team.
“Each one of the girls on this team, in addition to having a very high level of soccer skill, has an innate sense of self-motivation and high work ethic that is readily evident in the way each one comes to practice and competes in each game,” said team Manager Greg Condrey. “That is something that you just can’t teach.”
The Eclipse Soccer Club provides youth soccer programs for all levels of soccer interest and abilities.
At their core, the group strives to be a leading soccer organization in the state of Texas for skills development and competitive play.
“We strive to employ, engage and retain the most effective training staff and volunteer team’s managers,” Greg said. “We try to provide and maintain fields and equipment to a high-level of standard, all in support of creating the best experience for our soccer players and their families.”
Eclipse provides in-house “recreational” soccer leagues for players of all skill levels, from novice to professionally trained “select” teams that compete locally and nationally.
