Literacy Council of Fort Bend County Receives Grant from Union Pacific Foundation

The Fort Bend Literary Council delighted to thank Union Pacific Foundation for awarding a $7,500 grant to support basic literacy, English as a Second Language (ESL) and GED Programs. Union Pacific Foundation has been generous supporters of the Literacy Council of Fort Bend County for the past seven years donating over $35,000 since 2008.

This grant award will help the Literacy Council of Fort Bend County continue volunteer tutor trainings and to provide quality ESL and GED classes, supporting adults seeking to learn English or work toward taking the GED examination.

Since 1987, the Literacy Council of Fort Bend County has been Changing Lives Through Literacy. The mission of the Literacy Council is to improve family, community and professional lives through adult literacy education. The Literacy Council provides several programs for its students: Basic Literacy, English as a Second Language, GED Preparation, U.S. Citizenship Preparation, Computer Skills and Job Readiness Skills.
