Once convicted and ordered by the court, sex
offenders/pedophiles must register with the law enforcement
agency having jurisdiction where they live. Furthermore,
EVERY offender knows they cannot live, nor be within a
specified number of feet from a school, playground or place
where children gather, to list just a few limitations.
Well, recently, a sex offender/ pedophile
from Rockport, Texas, Aransas County missed the memo or that
tell-tale sign as he wandered into town. He did not know
that Rosenberg is NOT the place an offender who has failed
to follow the rules wants to live. Rosenberg does not take
the task of minding sex offenders lightly.
Rosenberg Police could be considered a
little narrow-minded about sex offenders in their city,
never forgetting the offender’s civil rights but ever
mindful of the liberty and safety of their own citizens.
Last week, we learned that not only the
police are concerned for the citizens, but also local
businesses. Because of the extra effort taken by a local
business in a background check on an applicant, registered
sex offender, James Arnold Huff, 38, is now back behind
bars. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure
to maintain registration as a sex offender.
According to police, Huff last registered in 2002 and
then moved without notification to law enforcement. He was
convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a 13-year-old
female in 1991 and sentenced to 10 years in TDC. In March,
2001, he was released from prison.
According to police, Huff told his
prospective employer that he had been living in Rosenberg
for two and half years and was working as a maintenance man
at a mobile home park behind Bowie Elementary School.
Inquiry at the Texas sex offender database shows Huff’s last
listing with Aransas County as October 20, 2004. His address
information is listed as unknown.
Huff is currently in the Fort Bend County Jail waiting
for the next transport south to Aransas County.
