“Envisioning Sugar Land Video” wins statewide PR award

Young’s video production company, Young & Creative, just won a “Best of Texas” award from the Texas Public Relations Association for the video.

“Envisioning Sugar Land,” a video produced to kick off the City of Sugar Land’s recent State of the City address, has just won a “Best in Texas” award from the Texas Public Relations Association (TPRA).

The video was produced by Scott Young, owner of Young & Creative video and graphics in Sugar Land, along with Steve Stewart, former Communications Manager for the City and now senior communications advisor for Enbridge Energy. Doug Adolph, the City’s interim Communications Director, co-wrote the script with Stewart.

The concept for the video was a movie trailer parody, highlighting key accomplishments of 2007 as well promoting exciting ongoing projects, such as the Brazos River Parkland project, Imperial Redevelopment and the new satellite Museum of Natural Science in Telfair.

“This video truly captured the excitement of Sugar Land, its people, its landscape and its growth and excellence,” said Sugar Land Mayor David Wallace, who delivered his final state of the city address (he is not seeking re-election) at the January 18 breakfast meeting before a packed ballroom of attendees. “I’m pleased the video won a Best in Texas Award from the TPRA but quite frankly, not surprised. It was an upbeat, creative and engaging piece of video work that made me proud to be the Mayor of this great city. And the music was pretty rockin’, too!”

Young and Stewart co-wrote and recorded all the music used in the four minute video in Young’s recording studio, which ranged in style from soft rock to driving rock to contemporary country.

Legendary radio personality and broadcaster Bill Young, a Sugar Land resident, provided the powerful voiceover needed to accentuate the movie trailer concept.

The award will be given to Young and Stewart at a banquet in San Antonio on March 1 as part of TPRA’s annual conference. The Silver Spur/Best of Texas Awards recognize the finest work produced each year by public relations professionals throughout the State of Texas.
