Aside from terrifying the tellers, the purported serial bank robber who hit a northeast Fort Bend County bank last week left his victims with a smile and polite thank you.
Wednesday, March 19, just minutes before noon, sheriff’s deputies responded to a bank robbery at the International Bank of Commerce (IBC) located inside the Kroger grocery store at 10570 State Highway 6 South near Sugar Land in northeast Fort Bend County.
According to Terriann Carlson, spokesperson for the sheriff, the preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect in this case is linked to several others in the Houston metro area. Carlson said the suspect walked into the bank carrying a red bag.
He walked up to the teller, leaned toward her and told her politely to remain calm and place the cash from her drawer into the bag and to have her associate do the same. With his bag full of bank cash, the suspect smiled at the tellers and said thank you before walking out the
door.
Carlson said the suspect was last seen on foot headed north on Highway 6 and disappeared into a neighborhood. No weapon was ever displayed although during the entire robbery, the suspect kept his right hand under his coat near his waist leading his victims to believe he was armed.
No physical injuries were reported.
The suspect was described as a black male, 25 – 35 years of age, 6’2”, and 200 pounds. He had an athletic build and was wearing a dark navy or black jogging suit and a dark colored ball cap. Carlson said, “Detectives believe this suspect is connected to several other robberies
