Department of the Month announced by city of Rosenberg City Manager Jack Hamlett, announced the Rosenberg Civic & Convention Center staff as Department of the Month and congratulated three members of the Parks and Recreation Department for their efforts in assisting convention
center staff.
The Rosenberg Civic & Convention Center department, staffed by Assistant Convention Center Manager Nelda McGee and Reservations Clerk, Sherri Hathorn, were nominated based on their outstanding performance in operating the facility while short-staffed. Two facility staff members
that included the facility manager Lowry Johnston and Carroll Fajkus, have both been out of extended leaves. Members of the Parks and Recreation Department, under the direction of Darren McCarthy, were acknowledged for assisting the convention center staff in setting up and dismantling several
significant events. Parks staff members Jesus Vargas, James Taylor, and Chris Vasquez, noted for doing whatever it took to make sure convention center rentals were completed successfully.
Rosenberg’s Department the Month program was established with City Council’s approval to recognize departments that are going the extra mile to: 1) improve the City’s customer service to the public or to other City personnel; 2) implement changes that improve City services or
reduce costs for City services; 3) project a positive image of the City; and 4) increase the level of safety in their work environment. Departments are nominated by their peers. Eligible departments and/or divisions are nominated for performance related to any of the established criteria
during a designated month.
