Now through April 19 is National Library Week. Fort Bend County Libraries has pulled together some interesting facts about your library system.
• Since 1994, more than a quarter of a million Fort Bend County children have read more than 3.3 million books for the Summer Reading Club at Fort Bend County Libraries.
• Fort Bend County Libraries staff members answer an average of 11,979 questions in a year -- EACH. That’s more than 1.5 million questions!
• More than 2.8 million books, magazines, audiobooks, videos and DVDs were checked out from Fort Bend County Libraries in 2007. Using a conservative average of $16 per item, it would cost over $44 million for Fort Bend County citizens to pay for the items they borrowed free of
charge from the libraries in 2007.
• Fort Bend County citizens make more than 1.5 million visits to Fort Bend County Libraries each year—that’s enough attendance to fill Reliant Stadium to capacity for the next 20 Houston Texans home football games. With 10 home games in a regular season, the stadium would be
filled for the next 2 years.
• Fort Bend County Libraries now offers free WiFi service, audiobooks that are downloadable from home, and online information-delivery 24/7.
• Fort Bend County Libraries offers free business resources that can help local businesses succeed and grow to the next level.
