Summer Fun
Hot weather, tanned or sunburned bodies and lots of late nights are one thing we can all begin to experience in the upcoming months. Summer is my favorite time of year, at least the beginning of summer, because it’s a nice break from well... everything stress related.
Everyone’s looking for a summer job, trying to find that perfect fit, or maybe something that just provides money. As well as our summer projects, we are also finishing up school, only three more weeks to go!
Summer is almost upon us and I have yet to see huge bikini sales, but I will give one tip from experience, keep lots of sunscreen handy, because those burning rays are already out. There’s no rush this week though, because the weather report looks pretty grim, I apologize for my
former promise of extreme humidity, it seems to be on hold for a little while. I expect to see a sudden rise in people using the gyms for at least the next month, try not to take my spot on the elliptical though, as it’s my best bet for a long workout. Some of us have other plans for the
summer such as the mountain of movies that are popping up in theaters and soon to be released.
If you’re not planning on lounging around in the sun for the summer you may be looking out for some summer job opportunities, and there are tons available. My job of choice last year was life guarding, talk about responsibility, the training was pretty vigorous and we had to dive
into some pretty deep water to practice our saves. If you visited my pool last year you were in good hands, with all the practice it took to get my certification. I expected there to be lots of action at the pool as I had seen on Baywatch, but it turns out Baywatch is a little more dramatized
than the life guarding I experienced. The most I did on my most exciting day was to tell a record number of children not to run, and plunge a toilet, not exactly glamorous. Summer jobs aren’t expected to be glamorous though, they’re just our opening into the world of careers.
As I watch the rain run down the window pane outside, I hope for all our sake it gets a lot warmer soon, so we can all be as sunburned as I am right now. Hop over to the bikini stores and get your outfits in line, because I know we are all counting down for the last day of school.
As for summer jobs, lets just keep the goal of enriching our learning experiences and pocket books in mind when we’re mopping and plunging.
