Yep, folks in west Fort Bend County are real serious ‘bout their highways and by ways and when those cyclists swarm out of Houston like locusts and cover the road....well sometimes... its gets ugly.
Yessireeebob, last weekend the cycling swarm fanned out riding the no-shoulder back roads almost from Pecan Grove out west and north of Fulshear. Winding and turning they traveled the back country roads. Beautiful, till they met the locals.
Yep, the folks who live in those parts didn’t buy property in the country to put up with goofy city folks coming to play in the street on their bicycles. Here the streets are for trucks, cars, and that occasional hunt’n buggy.
We hear some of the cyclists decided to spread across Bois ‘d Arc Lane as a truck was approaching. Umm, hum, they were gonna learn that locallesson, they were in charge of the road. Well, shock and awe, after following at a significant distance for a while, the truck
finally eased up and spread the cyclist like Moses split the Red Sea.
Seems it hacked off a cyclist so bad he spit on the truck, yelled obscenities at the occupants, then smacked and damaged the side mirror. Yep, you guessed it, a come to Jesus meeting followed. Oh, the locals are proud, especially those who have to deal with this plague
every weekend.
Hey locals, ya’ll get those picnic lunches ready ... cops say they’re gonna start enforce’n the law. Wonder if they’ll try to block the patrol cars?
Hey cyclists, better start play’n pretty.
And by the way, Ya’ll come back now ya hear? |
