Lamar CISD is one of five school districts named as finalists in the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards for large school districts in Texas.
One large school district will receive $100,000 and one small school district will receive $50,000. The five regional large district finalists have already received $5,000 each and three regional small district finalists were awarded $2,500 each. H-E-B has not publically
announced the other finalists.
“We are honored to be named a finalist,” said Lamar CISD Superintendent Dr. Thomas Randle. “There are many great school districts in the greater Houston area, and for us to be chosen to represent this area is recognition of the hard work of our teachers, administrators
and students, and the support of our community.”
A team of six judges visited the district. They visited teachers and students at Foster High School, Wessendorff Middle School and Lamar Junior High School. The Lamar Junior High Hospitality program provided the meal at the luncheon
LCISD was chosen as a regional finalist after submitting a 15-page application. |
