I am sick and tired of the President accusing Republicans of blocking the unemployment benefits extension (or any legislation for that matter).
Excuse me Mr. President; you have been in office for a year and a half and passed an $862 billion “stimulus” bill that was neither targeted or temporary (the definition of a stimulus bill) that was supposed to keep unemployment under 8 percent. Your economy should have should be creating jobs instead of losing 3 million since your stimulus bill was passed.
By the way, Democrats controlled both the house and senate two years before the Obama regime took over the legislative and executive branches of government. In addition, senate Republicans have agreed to the unemployment extension to the tune of $34 billion, as long as the appropriations are deducted from the $300+ billion of UNSPENT so-called stimulus bill money.
The President, on Monday, appeared in the White House Rose Garden with some unemployed people. One of them was a lady that he said, and I quote, ‘for the first time in her life, she is going to have to do something she never thought she would have to do. She is going to have to ask her father for financial help.’
Excuse me, but what is wrong with that? What is wrong with asking for help from a family member that has the where-with-all to do so? Is asking taxpayers to pay an unemployment paycheck to the unemployed somehow better than “encouraging” them to go to their own family for help.
If you watched the Sunday talk shows just this last Sunday, you would have thought that George Bush was running for office. The congressional guests on David Gregory’s show said ‘Bush or The Bush Administration’ more than they said Obama or The Obama Administration. Then they said, ‘what is the Republican plan’ other than repeal the healthcare bill. I say THAT is a plan. The Republicans are not in power in congress. Any other plan they have is irrelevant. Although Republicans did present ideas for health care reform, Democrats accepted not one.
Some Democrat Kool-Aid drinkers are out there saying, ‘we survived Bush, you’ll survive Obama.’ They think they are being cute or funny. Why don’t these people tell that to the millions of people that will lose jobs and/or wages due to the Obama regime’s plan to stop all drilling in the Gulf of Mexico?
These same people say Bush was the worst President in history. If we survived who they say was the worst and we will “survive” their (worst) president, aren’t they admitting that the Obama regime “needs surviving?” To them, two wrongs do make a right. So, maybe we should just say, ‘thank you for agreeing with us.’
We did survive the Bush Administration only because of tax cuts, never taking his eye off the enemy in the war on terror and low unemployment. We survived Bush despite his proposals or passing of comprehensive immigration reform (amnesty), Harriet Miers, Medicare drug expansion, “approval” of deficit spending, etc., etc.
