Yep, for the month of July, one can get oneself a FREE RIDE in Fort Bend County – just where is this place headed? Well, as a matter of fact – Houston!
For the month of July the Fort Bend Express is offering commuters a round trip free ride to local doctor’s offices and to the Texas Medical Center in Houston. Now mind you that’s just one free ride, but it is a free ride none the less. “Sugar Land residents can now choose to go “green” and take advantage of a special offer to take one free round-trip ride in July on any of Fort Bend County’s transit services to designated destinations in Houston or Fort Bend County,” said City spokesman Doug Adolph.
The “Take a Free Ride” coupon is available at www.sugarlandtx.gov, then hop aboard the County’s Fort Bend Express transit service to Greenway Plaza, the Galleria or the Texas Medical Center. Riders may also commute to downtown Houston via a transfer to Houston Metro for a small additional charge, said Adolph. Furthermore, residents can choose to catch one free round-trip ride anywhere within Fort Bend County via the County’s curb-to-curb “demand response” service.
July’s “Take a Free Ride” program is designed to pique rider interest and provide citizens the opportunity to experience the benefits of public transportation. “During the past decade, more and more Sugar Land residents have been enjoying Fort Bend County’s transit services, which now provide 13,000 commuter rides per month,” said Sugar Land Director of Transportation & Long-Range Planning Patrick Walsh.
So hop aboard the Fort Bend Express and beat high gas prices, enjoy a relaxing commute and reduce your carbon footprint. Fort Bend Express operates from two park and ride locations in Sugar Land: the AMC Theater parking lot, 3301 Town Center Blvd. South, and the University of Houston Sugar Land Campus, 14000 University Boulevard.
