In preparation for the Summer Reading Club, which begins June 3, Fort Bend County Libraries’ Sienna Branch Library will have an abbreviated schedule of children’s programs in May. The summer schedule of activities will begin during the second week in June. These programs are free and open to the public.
The May schedule is as follows:
Mother Goose Time, which normally takes place on Tuesdays at 10:00 am, provides caregiver/infant multisensory circle-time activities — including simple sign language, folksongs and lullabies, and finger plays — that are especially designed to stimulate babies’ social, emotional, and physical development through rhythm and music. Mother Goose Time is intended for infants from age 1 month to 12 months. Mother Goose Time will take place on May 7 ONLY this month.
Toddler Time – which normally takes place on Thursdays at 10:00 am — offers caregiver/child activities, stories and songs for older babies, from 12 to 36 months of age. Toddler Time will take place on May 2 and 9 ONLY this month.
Pre-school children, 3 to 6 years of age, will enjoy Story Time, where they hear stories, watch movies, and participate in age-appropriate craft activities, beginning at 10:00 am each Wednesday. Story Time will take place on May 1 and 8 ONLY this month.
Kinder Korner — a time for kindergartners to enjoy stories, movies, crafts and other activities – normally takes place on the 2nd Wednesday, beginning at 4:00 pm. Kinder Korner will not take place in May. The schedule will resume in September.
Pajama Night Story Time — which normally takes place every Monday at 6:30 pm — gives families an evening option for some activities presented during the day time. Pajama Night Story Time will take place on May 6 ONLY this month.
The After-School Break — crafts, movies, stories, and more for school-aged children in grades 1 through 5 ONLY – normally takes place on the 4th Thursday, beginning at 4:15 pm. The After-School Break will not take place in May. The program will begin its special summer schedule on June 11 as weekly School-Age Programs on Tuesdays at 2:00 pm.
Tween the Pages — a book club for youth in grades 4 and 5 – normally takes place on the 2nd Tuesday, beginning at 4:15 pm. The book club will not meet in May.
The Teen Programs, which normally begin at 6:30 pm on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, are designed for youth in grades 6-8. The Teen Programs will not take place in May.
