AccessHealth Community Challenge sporting event a success

The day included double elimination tournaments for both volleyball and softball.  The winner of the Competitive Division of Softball was “SWAT Team” of Gillen Pest Control and ELGE, Inc. was the winner of their division.  As for volleyball, The Methodist Hospital System team took first place with the team from First Victoria was the runner up. Presenting sponsors included Legacy Ford, the Methodist Hospital System and the TW Davis Family Y.  Community Health Choice was a Home Run sponsor for the event.

The event was held on Saturday, March 9.  with the softball tournament being played on both the T. W. Davis Family Y fields in Richmond and the Travis Park fields in Rosenberg.

“We are extremely pleased that our first annual event had all of its brackets filled.  We have received great support and plan to expand the tournament next year to include more of our service delivery areas”, said Kelli Metzenthin, Development Officer.

Softball teams included Legacy Ford , the T. W. Davis Family Y, First Victoria Bank, Elge Inc., Si Enviro, Rotary Club of Richmond, Gillen Pest Control and employees of AccessHealth sponsored by the board of directors.

Volleyball teams include an AccessHealth employee team, Elge Inc., First Victoria Bank, The Hampton, HealthSouth, the Methodist Hospital System, the T. W. Davis Family Y and the V Dogs.  “This day was great fun for those participating and those who were watching.  There has been friendly banter between many of the teams who are vowing to be even more competitive next year! At least two of the teams have scheduled regular practices in preparation for next year. We look forward to March 8, 2014, and hope to have two additional softball brackets, ”  said Cindy Reaves, Community Relations Specialist.
