When people are impacted by home fires your American Red Cross is always there to provide immediate disaster assistance when people need it most. In order to provide these services we not only need financial resources but also Red Cross trained volunteers, called Disaster Action Team (DAT), to respond to local emergencies.
A DAT volunteer is someone who is compassionate, has desire to help their community, likes to work with a team and is reliable. They have a flexible schedule to meet with disaster victims to determine what American Red Cross services can be provided. As a DAT volunteer you promote community unity, ownership and involvement while being an American Red Cross representative.
To begin your Red Cross experience you will need to complete a background check, a volunteer application and attend a volunteer orientation.
Commitment levels are based on your own schedule and completion pace. Our total DAT Trainee level takes 8 hours, an additional 6 hours for Member, and an additional 10 hours for Leader status.
We all have an innate desire to help others, no matter what walk of life we come from. The Red Cross is truly neighbors helping neighbors in our own communities.
