Stormy weather didn’t dampen the mood of more than 300 parents and community members who attended the Care 2 Chat Community Connect Conference, held September 29. Presented by Fort Bend ISD’s Volunteers and Partnerships Office, Title I Office and Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital, the event was hosted by the University of Houston-Victoria School of Nursing, and offered participants an opportunity to take part in nearly 30 informational sessions focusing on academics, parenting skills, college readiness, health and wellness, and personal growth. The conference also gave participants the opportunity to network with business and community representatives and featured more than 50 vendors that provided information and promotional items.
This is the first year that Fort Bend ISD has partnered with Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital and the University of Houston-Victoria School of Nursing to present the conference.
“This year’s conference gave our parents the opportunity to enjoy a more diverse conference experience through the various sessions and vendor booths provided,” said Pamela Shaw, FBISD Volunteers/Partnerships Coordinator. “Based on the many positive responses we received following the event, participants were pleased with what we had to offer. We look forward to continuing this partnership in the future.”
Conference sponsors would like to thank session presenters, community partners and conference volunteers, whose contributions helped make the conference a positive experience for all participants.
