The elegant affair will take place inside the beautiful glassed-in veranda of the 1883 Moore Home. Guests will receive lessons in the history of tea and proper tea etiquette, life in the Moore Home during the Edwardian Period, a tour of the historic house and more while sampling a delicious array of savories and sweets.
“Something really special this year is that we will have several gorgeous dresses from the Edwardian period on display throughout the house,” said Educational Coordinator Jessica Avery. “We will also be giving a special tour of the home that focuses on the Moore family’s life during the early 20th century. This will not be the normal house tour but will give insight into the lives of the family following John Moore’s election to Congress in 1905 and their time in Richmond and Washington, D.C.”
The menu for the tea party will feature a variety of tea sandwiches, scones with assorted jams, shortbread and English tea biscuits. The tea parties will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and cost $18 for the general public and $15 for members of the Fort Bend County Museum Association. Teacups are limited so make your reservations soon.
