Kruti Mehta, an Austin High School senior and Ambassador Girl Scout in Troop 137, was named a 2013 Spectra Energy Scholarship Winner. Recipients under the Spectra Energy Scholars Program are chosen annually by an independent committee of judges and must be graduating high school/secondary school seniors.
The committee selects recipients based on a holistic review of academic excellence, community leadership, honors and awards. On behalf of Spectra Energy, Don Page presented the $20,000 scholarship award certificate to Kruti at Austin High School’s Senior Awards Ceremony.
Kruti is an active student on campus and held several leadership positions throughout high school career. During her senior year, she served as the co-president of the AHS orchestra and completed her Girl Scout Gold Award project. For this, she planned and executed a week long camp for children at a Stafford outreach center. Based on this project, she was also named a 2013 Girls Scout Emerald Circle scholarship recipient.
Kruti will graduate from AHS in June in the top 5% and plans to attend The University of Texas at Austin- Business Honors Program. She plans to spend her summer doing research at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center as a selected intern for the Carl B & Florence E. King Foundation High School Summer Program.
