The Austin High volleyball team has only lost two matches all season.

If the Bulldogs win two more, they’ll become Fort Bend ISD’s first state champion in volleyball.

Austin (45-2) will face Conroe Oak Ridge (35-6) in the Class 6A State Semifinals at the Culwell Center in Garland – near Dallas – at 6 p.m. Friday.

The winner will face Lewisville Hebron (41-5) or Canyon (37-12) in the 6A State Championship Match at 6 p.m. Saturday in Garland.

Austin repeated as 6A-23 Champions this season and edged Katy Seven Lakes in the Region III Championship Match last Saturday in Aldine.

The Bulldogs actually trailed the Spartans in the final match, before senior Paige Swinney – an honorable mention All-American – led Austin to a 15-13 victory.

Last season, Austin lost to Clear Creek in the regional quarterfinals.

Fort Bend Christian lost to Lubbock Trinity Christian, 3-2, in the TAPPS Division II Championship Match last Saturday in San Antonio.

Ridge Point reached the 5A regional quarterfinals where it was swept by Barbers Hill, 3-0.
