Over the holidays Precinct 4 Constable and a local alcohol distributor went together and posted some banners wishing the community a happy holiday season and asked that folks drink responsibly and have a designated driver.
A very nice gesture.
Well, the not so nice followed. Shortly after those banners were erected, after having been approved and permitted by TxDOT, a pack of county employees were seen taking them down. It seems someone called TxDOT and complained. TxDOT explained that they were permitted and perfectly legal. Thank you and have a nice day.
Further inquiry revealed that the complainant’s name left with TxDOT officials matched the name of a sheriff’s reserve deputy. Now, you will find this shocking…he swears it was not him that called. Someone must have spoofed him and his phone number, imagine! Since the TxDOT call garnered not successful, the sheriff’s chief deputy (himself) called Fort Bend Road and Bridge and said he had gotten complaints and had Road and Bridge remove the signs….. Your tax dollars at work!
So out went Road and Bridge employees to do the chief deputy’s bidding, and remove banners erected by one of his many opponents. Those well wishes were snatched up and thrown into the back of a truck as county employees went from one set of banners to the next. No one would have been the wiser had those sign snatchers not been acting so … strange? guilty? as they threw them into the back of the truck. That’s when they got the attention of an off duty policeman. When he saw what was happening, he thought the behavior seemed strange so he called the constable’s office and reported the incident.
Further investigation revealed that the banners should have never been removed and early the following morning county employees were out reposting them. Oops!
So, you driving public…Happy Holidays! Seems the current administration over at the Sheriff’s Office doesn’t care if you drink responsibly or have a designated driver nor do they care to remind you!
Makes ya’ wonder…if the chief deputy, who wants to be sheriff so bad, will use/abuse his office this way BEFORE he gets elected…what would he do if he were elected? You know the old saying…power corrupts, absolute power absolutely corrupts, or something like that.
Bang the Gong,,,the games have only just begun!
