Beware … Crooks working Craigslist in Fort Bend County

May 11, 2011 by FortBendStar

By LeaAnne Klentzman

In what could be called an abundance of caution, a seller on Craigslist met with a potential buyer from Craigslist at the Sugar Land Walmart parking lot.

According to Sugar Land police spokesperson Doug Adolph, Sugar Land police took a robbery report on Saturday after a man was robbed of a mobile phone on Friday. Adolph said, “A man said he arranged through Craigslist to meet another man at 9:30 p.m. in the parking lot to sell a mobile phone. The other man displayed a pistol, took the phone and walked away.”

The suspect was described as possibly Hispanic, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds and wearing a black shirt with buttons and blue jeans.

Adolph said the case remains under investigation.
