Rosenberg police were dispatched to the theft of a bicycle that was occurring while the child reported it. According to police, the child reporting the theft was able to provide such a solid description of the suspect that he and the bike were easy to find.
During the ensuing search of the area, officers located the bicycle at the Regency Inn, within a mile of the offense. Further investigation revealed that Mark Witten, 20, matched the bike thief’s description. According to police, Witten was found to be in possession of “crack” cocaine and confessed to the theft.
In the end the bike was returned and Witten was arrested for theft and possession of a controlled substance. At press time Witten was still in jail.
