In September 2009 she was featured on the front page of The Houston Chronicle as an example for entrepreneurs defying the downfall.

Belinda, a French native, holds a Masters Degree in Linguistics. She spent many years traveling the world achieving fluency in five languages.

“It should not only be the language that is of interest,” Bentahar observes. “In my opinion the ultimate goal should be to understand the cultural aspects enough to truly feel comfortable and confident when meeting with people of a region.”

After having lived on four continents, Bentahar and her family are proud to name Fort Bend as their final destination. “We do put a very important focus in our children’s lives on speaking foreign languages” says Belinda, who’s children Billy (12) and Lilly (7) are fluent in English, French and German and are on their way to learning Spanish and Chinese at her school. “And we feel that this community that celebrates diversity is the perfect place for us to be!”

Bentahar’s main ambition is to be able to offer a program to each individual or business. Now after only three short years The Language Factory has a wide variety of students who are always pleased with the diversity of courses, ranging from childrens classes to corporate packages.

“I truly believe that The Language Factory is a great contribution to our community”, says Bentahar. “It is the connecting door to the world, and it starts right here in our neighborhood.”

Stacy Croft

She began her first business, Sugar Mill Chiropractic, at the age of 25 years in Sugar Land. “It was such a great and wonderful experience that 14 years later I expanded into a second business, Sugar Land Spine and Disc. We offer a non-surgical approach to relieve disc problems and to strengthen a patient’s neck and lower back muscles in an environment focused on resolution to the problem, not just momentary pain relief,” says Stacy. She feels Sugar Land has been a great place to begin a business as it is a growing area with educated people focused on improving their health.

Beginning a career at such a young age was a little challenging as I was unsure of what to expect. But, the community welcomed me warmly and I found everyone was cheering me on to success, adds Stacy. Sugar Land offers many opportunities to give back and to become a part of the community regardless of any person’s interests.”

She is a past member and Woman of Excellence receiver of the Fort Bend ABWA, a prior member of the Fort Bend Chiropractic sports team, and an 11-year member of the Sugar Land Rotary Club.

Kevin Rios

Cheers to Kevin Rios. Before opening The Post Oak Grill of Sugar Land in 2006, Kevin discovered that customer satisfaction was key to the success of any business. He learned during his studies that wine was an integral part of a great meal. Kevin’s business accomplishments and designations include: International Sommelier Guild Level II, Court of Master Sommeliers’ Level II, Parker & Zraly Wine Certification Level II and Wine Spectator’s Restaurant Wine List Award of Excellence 2009. Kevin plans to continue his education until he achieves his goal of becoming a Master Sommelier.

The original Post Oak Grill on Highway 6 in Sugar Land was so successful that Kevin worked for more than a year to build a new restaurant. His goal was to double his restaurant capacity. The design, his attention to warm wood details, ambiance and waterfront location only serve to compliment the exceptional quality of food Kevin offers at his recently opened restaurant, The Post Oak Grill of Sugar Land, located at 1550 Lake Pointe Parkway, Suite 500, near Whole Foods.

Kevin claims he learned a long time ago that when you become successful you have a responsibility to give back to your community. He has shared his good fortune with The Children’s Miracle Network, The Literacy Council of Fort Bend, and ARC of Fort Bend. He recently was appointed to the Advisory Board of Parks Youth Ranch in Fort Bend County.
