Sunday evening, September 8, just minutes before 8, Rosenberg K9 Officer Schnacky and his K9 partner “Rex” stopped a Ford pickup towing a boat in the 2500 block of Avenue H (US90A) for a reported traffic violation.
According to Rosenberg police spokesman Brian Baker, The two occupants of the truck offered inconsistent stories on where they had been and where they were going. That inconsistency led Officer Schnacky to deploy his K9 partner “Rex” to conduct a sniff of the vehicle and boat.
“Rex” alerted on a boat being towed, said Baker. He then said, “The boat was subsequently searched and multiple hidden compartments were located.” Inside those hidden compartments were 155, individually wrapped, bundles of what is believed to be marijuana. The total weight was approximately 562 pounds with an estimated street value of approximately $170,000.
The driver and passenger are identified as Clint Schweining and Martin Wilson.
Both were arrested and reportedly booked into the Fort Bend County Jail on charges of Possession of Marijuana in a Drug Free Zone; a First Degree Felony.
Interestingly, at press time on the following Tuesday, neither man was listed in the Fort Bend County jail records.
