To all my friends and family,
If you read the article in the “Fort Bend Star“, the only portion of the article that I sent to the author was the 1st paragraph, no one contacted me for a quote, I did not authorize The Book Nook authors signing to be a fund raiser for my family or any other family.I do believe that the “quotes” that we’re given to the “Fort Bend Star” were taken from some of my postings that chronicle Jamie’s journey to recovered health after his accident..they were not posted for others to use out of context or for the benefit of others, while it is true that I do want others to “have a plan” in regards to drinking and driving, our event at The Book Nook was completely separate from my family life.
This author signing event was not about the Chapman family, it was about the wonderful authors that attended to share their titles with the world and it was very successful for these literary geniuses!
I would also like to go on record that my family has NEVER requested a fund raiser of any sort, nor will we ever..there are so many other people in our community that could benefit from others generosity, as we have, wonderful people who brought meals in those early days, friends who took over my store and made it their own to make sure it has stayed open, a van donated to Jamie to make his transportation needs easier, people coming to just sit with Jamie or taking my cat to the vets, these are the things that lift the burden of daily life.
Again, I repeat, we never authorized the author signing as a fundraiser, nor will we ever request a fundraiser, we will request your friendship, a phone call, message, text just to say that you continue to pray for our dear sweet Jamie, that you remember Jamie, send him a message on FB, give him a call sometime, and that yes you do pass along the message that when you drink and drive you take your life and possibly the lives of others in your own hands,,,and that the decision you make is not worth the horrendous journey you will embark on.
This issue of fundraising for the Chapman’s is now a moot issue, and while we appreciate the sentiment, we will not be having, hosting or taking part in any fundraiser for our family.
Editor’s note: The “Fort Bend Star” does not go on the internet for articles, nor any portion thereof. Our apologies to Mrs. Chapman regarding the information we received.
