Eco-Explorers Tadpoles (ages 3-7) will meet most Tuesdays starting June 7 – August 2, from 9:30 – 11:00 am. Eco-Explorers for children ages 7 – 12 will meet each Thursday starting June 9 – August 4, from 9:30-11:30. Both programs will include explorations of a specific topic with indoor and outdoor activities including games, crafts, songs, and snacks.
Sessions for Tadpoles will consist of Spectacular Spiders, Our Feathered Friends, Forest Features, The Tale of Tracks, Reptile Relatives and Leapers & Hoppers.
Eco-Explorers sessions will consist of Baffling Behavior, Owl Odyssey, Getting Your Bearings (map & compass), Natural Defense, Pond Life, Insect Inspection, First Aid, The Power of Water and Amphibian Watch.
Guest presenters this year include Mary Ann Weber, Educational Director of The Houston Audubon Society, members of the Fort Bend Master Gardeners and Jaime Gonzales, Community Education Manager of the Katy Prairie Conservancy.
Pre-registration is required with a limit of 25 participants for each session. Tadpole participants will be asked for a $2 donation for each session or $8 to reserve a spot for all 6 sessions. Eco-Explorers participants will be asked for a $2 donation for each session or $14 to reserve a spot for all 9 sessions. Donations benefit the Brazos Bend State Park Volunteer Organization. Program donation is in addition to normal park entrance fees: children ages 12 and under are free; anyone age 13 and up, $5 per person. Ask about the Texas State Parks annual pass.
