This year, Burton Elementary School’s faculty and staff recognized October as “Cancer Awareness” month. In their efforts to “Wite-Out” cancer, the employees took part in various activities including, designing pink and lavender ribbons for everyone to wear.
The color pink represents breast cancer awareness and the color lavender, hope and awareness for all forms of cancer. Burton hosted “Pink Fridays” each week in October when employees wear pink clothing or accessories.
The school also held a Cancer Awareness Breakfast in memory and celebration of individuals who have been impacted by the disease. A favorite activity among staff has been the “Cross Your T’s and Dot Your I’s For Cancer” interactive cross word.
